Terrepower establishes EV battery repurposing brand

Auto parts manufacturer Terrepower has unveiled its new Ontility brand of EV batteries, dedicated to vehicle battery lifecycle solutions, as well as energy storage systems and components.

The launch covers both North America and Europe, the Daphne, Alabama-based firm says. The new brand of batteries aims to help Terrepower customers “maximize the value of EV batteries through validated reuse, remanufacturing, repurposing and recycling solutions,” according to officials.

“Both North America and Europe are entering a pivotal phase of EV adoption, where maintaining and extending the life of batteries will become as important as producing them,” says Terrepower CEO Duncan Gillis. “The launch of Ontility EV batteries strengthens our ability to serve customers across these regions with proven battery lifecycle solutions while reinforcing Terrepower’s position as a global leader in sustainable manufacturing.

“As millions of EVs age, the industry needs trusted partners capable of restoring, validating and extending battery value at scale.”

Despite the comparative ubiquity of EVs in Europe with adoption rates growing 38% from 2024 to 2025, Terrepower has positioned its North American business as its leading regional market for the Ontility brand. Representatives say that the continent shows rising EV adoption rates, as well as high investments in domestic battery manufacturing, making it a strong candidate to lead the brand.

Supporting the spiking demand

The launch of the Ontility brand comes as a response to growing demand for aftermarket battery and charging solutions in the EV market. Terrepower officials say that fleet support and compliant end-of-life battery management have become high priorities for customers across both North America and Europe. Ontility will assist not only vehicle owners, but battery installers, EV fleets, and OEMs in maximizing their battery value.

“Too often, batteries are viewed as waste before their useful life is truly complete,” says Michael Boe, president of Terrepower’s European business operations. “Our philosophy at Terrepower is simple: preserve value first. By restoring batteries to service, we extend vehicle life, reduce material consumption and help create a more circular approach to electrification. That approach supports both sustainability goals and business outcomes.”

In addition to being a more cost-effective alternative to traditional EV battery solutions, the Ontility brand is backed by warranty and ready for installation at a moment’s notice. The new brand offers scalable battery lifecycle services for recycling and upcycling, and can grealty extend the life of EVs and fleets across North America, the company says.

“The challenge facing the industry is not simply producing more batteries,” Gillis adds. “It’s ensuring the batteries already in service deliver the greatest possible value throughout their lifecycle. Leadership in this space matters because it helps make electric mobility more affordable, more sustainable and more accessible. Terrepower’s brand Ontility exists to help solve that challenge.”

Terrepower officials say they expect the demand for EV battery lifecycle solutions to continue to accelerate worldwide, thanks to EVs moving beyond their original warranty periods. The company’s new brand is available now.
