Artisanal PV unveils flagship residential carport product

Newark, Delaware-based solar firm Artisanal PV has made its official entry into the residential solar carport market, promising to be “the alternative to rooftop solar.”
While commercial sized carports have become a norm for larger properties in some parts of the U.S., smaller, more individualized units haven’t enjoyed quite the same success. Artisanal PV plans to help move the market along by providing not only reliable electricity generation for average American homes and potential for EV charging, but sleek aesthetics that allow the unit to blend in.
“It’s a beautiful and thoughtfully designed structure that is unique compared to other offerings on the market,” says Artisanal PV founder Ken Fields. “Most other solar carports and pavilions are pretty industrial looking, clunky and unattractive. We designed ours in such a way that they can seamlessly blend in to just about any design style. What we did was create a basic aluminum frame and then ran flanges along the exterior of the structure that provides space for customized material inlays, be it wood molding, tiles, brick veneers.”
The Artisanal PV website states that the flagship solar product is about 18 feet by 15 feet, and can “comfortably accommodate one large SUV or two smaller sedans.”
Launching in the residential market
The new product has been engineered to withstand all kinds of extreme weather from hurricanes to heavy snow, Artisanal PV officials say. The company’s newly-launched website calls the carport “solid and prepared for everything.”
The fully modular system has room for up to a dozen standard sized residential solar panels. At full capacity, the product has a rated power output between 4.8 kW and 5.2 kW, representatives say.
“We’re pretty excited about this idea,” Fields adds. “According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory for any number of reasons it’s estimated that up to 49% of our housing stock can’t currently install solar panels. Whether the roof is angled properly or not, faces the wrong direction, home owners associations that don’t want solar on roofs, historic properties that are protected. We think we’ve figured out how to address these concerns and get more solar powering more homes.”
Artisanal PV is currently accepting fully refundable advance reservation preorders for $150, the company says. Production is currently set to begin during Q4 2026, with first deliveries scheduled for late Spring 2027.
