GRID2020 Completes Ontario Ministry Of Energy Demonstration Project

June 6, 2016 at 1:56 pm Comments are Disabled

TORONTO, June 07, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — GRID2020, Inc., a leading Distribution Transformer Monitoring solutions provider announced today that it has successfully completed its $1.6M demonstration project. The GRID20/20 intra-grid sensor solution project was sponsored by the Ministry of Energy and funded in part through the Ontario Smart Grid Fund initiative.

The pioneering technology offered by GRID20/20 was deployed within targeted segments of two Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) in Ontario.  The project included a series of activities designed to advance the evolution of intra-grid sensors which enable LDCs to improve operating efficiencies, embrace energy conservation practices, identify unauthorized power losses, and gain insight into the performance of assets within their grid space.

Alan Snook, President of GRID20/20 commented, “We were honored to have been selected by the Ministry as a grant recipient, and we are now very proud of the beneficial outcomes we achieved throughout the span of the project.  Our goal was to drive value to the LDCs, and the rate payers of Ontario.  We believe that we have achieved these goals, and have now set the stage for a comprehensive smart grid experience to become a reality.”

GRID20/20 has developed a “Best-In-Class”, turnkey, Plug & Play Distribution Transformer Monitoring (DTM) solution that helps to create extensive visibility into the grid, provides powerful proactive management capabilities for LDCs/utilities, and allows for improved power efficiency including the embracing of energy conservation practices.  The next step for GRID20/20 is to advance onto meaningful commercial penetration in Ontario.

In support of the value being provided by the GRID20/20 OptaNODE DTM solution, Dragan Savic of EnWin Utilities, Ltd. commented, “The GRID20/20 intra-grid sensors we deployed permitted us to view loading information that previously was unavailable, and locate various losses.  We used the OptaNODE DTM solution to improve our operating efficiencies and effectively reduce the identified power losses.   Now, we look forward to advancing our relationship with GRID20/20 to broaden our grid management capabilities and maximize service delivery levels for our valued rate payers.”

The GRID20/20 OptaNODE solution has provided over 3.3 Million intra-grid data readings to the EnWin Utilities grid operators.  Over 700 Automated Alert Events from within the distribution network have been reported to EnWin Utilities via GRID20/20’s “Hands-Free” GRID Watchdog notification service.

Presently, LDCs/utilities have a firm handle on substation and endpoint meters associated with the grid.  However, the most expansive grid segment is the network of power lines, power poles and transformers that collectively support the delivery of electricity to customers.   This dynamic network is referred to as the ‘heart of the grid’, and it presently represents the least monitored portion.  To this end, the patented sensors of GRID20/20, and their robust proprietary software platform now enable LDCs/utilities to gain proactive vision into this space, reduce operating costs, and realize improved grid management practices.  Additionally, the GRID20/20 solution assists with the emerging Distributed Energy Resources market which is commonly associated with solar rooftop and wind generation being increasingly deployed by energy-minded consumers.

GRID20/20 has now reported over 44 Million intra-grid readings to its customers, and more than 49,000 Automated Alert Events concerning conditions that deviate from intended grid and asset tolerances.

Snook mentioned, “We have created a globally relevant intra-grid sensor solution which will help to facilitate worldwide smart grid realization.   We are grateful to the Ontario Ministry of Energy for having the vision to grasp the value we will provide to the Ontario ratepayers, LDCs/utilities, and to electricity customers around the globe.  Our technology will become an instrumental element in the world’s ongoing pursuit of a genuine smart grid where improved efficiencies and sustainability will be achieved.”

For more information about GRID20/20 and its expanding list of value propositions, visit www.grid2020.com.

Anasazi Energy Corporation agrees to acquire Solar Quartz Technologies Limited in a transaction valued at US$530 Million

June 6, 2016 at 12:00 pm Comments are Disabled

HOUSTON, June 07, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Anasazi Energy Corporation (OTC.US:ANSZ) today announced the Company has entered into a Reorganization and Stock Purchase Agreement (RSPA) with Solar Quartz Technologies Limited, incorporated in New Zealand. The parties have agreed that the value of SQT’s assets and future cash flows is US$530 million.  Final closing is scheduled for on or before June 30, 2016.

Upon closing, the name of ANSZ will be changed to Solar Quartz Technologies, Inc. (“SQTI”), with a new trading symbol. ANSZ will issue shares of common stock as payment to SQTI that will be equivalent to 95% of the Company’s shares on issue. The Company does not anticipate any further reorganization of its common stock. Upon closing, SQTI plans to immediately prepare audited financial statements and become fully reporting with the SEC, and then uplift SQTI to trade on the more senior OTCQX exchange or NASDAQ.  SQTI anticipates qualifying to trade on a more senior exchange prior to December 2016.

Jeff Freedman, President of Anasazi stated  “We are pleased to make this important strategic acquisition capitalizing on the dominant emerging Solar Energy market, both here in the USA and globally. The directors of Anasazi are confident that upon completion, the SQTI business operations will provide substantial additional value to our shareholders.”

SQTI is a High-tech HPQS Production Business

Solar Quartz Technologies Limited is positioned as a High-Tech Refining and Processing manufacturer entirely focused on the production of commercial quantities of High Purity Quartz Sand (“HPQS”) to meet world demand. HPQS is an essential component necessary for the manufacture of all PV Solar Panels, Semi-conductors and all high-end electronics. The longevity of the SQT operations is well assured due to its extensive supplies of feedstock raw material for refining HPQS, located at its wholly owned high-purity silica/quartz mineral deposits (JORC 14 million tons), located in Queensland, Australia.

SQT’s primary focus is on re-establishing the highly profitable production of commercial quantities (30,000 -80,000 tpa.) of High Purity Quartz Sand from new commercial facilities both in Australia and the USA.  The SQT management team has extensive hands on experience (8 years) in all technical aspects and operational management areas of the highly profitable HPQS manufacturing business.

SQT has few competitors, as there are only a handful of manufacturers capable of producing both consistent quality and commercial quantities of HPQS worldwide.  HPQS is traditionally in a demand position of under supply compared to global industry requirements.  The burgeoning global demand for large capacity power generating solar farms, both in the USA and worldwide, is further consolidating the increased demand for high purity quartz production.

PV Solar Panel Feedstock Production Materials – Solar-grade Silicon

SQT can produce low-cost solar-grade PV silicon due to its sole ownership extensive deposits of natural high purity silica/quartz feedstock, combined with ability to utilize new processing technologies.  A high degree of interest from several large Global end users of PV solar grade silicon has been expressed as potential joint venture partners to capitalize on SQTI’s unique cost advantages by establishing a PV Silicon production facility for the production of solar grade PV silicon at below market cost.

SQT is well positioned to become a dominant global supplier of all raw materials required in the production of both PV Solar panels, and HPQS, as well as fulfilling demand from many other segments of the Semiconductor, and all high-end electronics manufacturing industries.

SRV to participate in modernisation of Lappeenranta campus area

June 1, 2016 at 11:30 am Comments are Disabled

Espoo, Finland, 2016-06-02 13:30 CEST (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —
SRV GROUP PLC     PRESS RELEASE     2 JUNE 2016, AT 14.30

SRV will participate in the development of the Skinnarila campus in Lappeenranta by renovating the premises of Lappeenranta University of Technology and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. In addition to the renovation, the usability and diversity of the premises will be improved by building attractive meeting places and reconfigurable workspaces for campus users. Aihio Arkkitehdit Oy is responsible for the architectonic aspects of the project. The value of the construction work of the project, which was launched in May 2016, is approximately EUR 31 million, and the renovation and modification work is expected to be completed in November 2018.

“The project to be implemented for University Properties of Finland Ltd will justifiably arouse interest in SRV. We have built and renovated cradles of science throughout Finland, including Tampere University of Technology’s Campus Arena, Helsinki University’s Main Library and campus buildings at the University of Jyväskylä, and we are currently developing Aalto University’s campus area in Otaniemi. The Skinnarila campus renovation and modernisation project is a fine addition to these,” says Production Director Antti Raunemaa, who is responsible for the project in SRV.

The buildings of the Skinnarila campus were constructed in stages between 1973 and 2004, and the oldest buildings have been in use without significant renovations for over 40 years. The need to renovate the properties is acute, because the building systems, structures and facilities are to a large extent original. In connection with the renovation, the energy efficiency of the campus will also be a focus of attention. Measures according to the Green Campus ideology will be prepared, utilising opportunities to connect solar energy and lake heat as well as taking into account in construction the criteria of Healthy House implementation.

In connection with the project, the functionality of the campus will be developed in accordance with the objectives of Lappeenranta University of Technology and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences, and use of premises will be enhanced by adding multipurpose facilities and by compacting use of space. At the campus will be built attractive meeting places and reconfigurable workspaces, which will support various forms of learning and learning environments. Minor repairs and modifications will also be made to campus laboratory facilities. The total floor area of the campus of approximately 68,000 square metres will not grow significantly as a result of the changes.

“The launch of this synergy project has also required much background work and strategic intent from the future users of the premises. It’s excellent to receive the opportunity to implement the project cost-effectively with expert partners who have been involved in building higher education environments in the past,” says Aki Havia, University Properties of Finland Ltd’s Director of Property Development and Maintenance.

The project will be implemented using the project management contracting model, in which SRV will act as the project management contractor. The model facilitates the faster start-up of construction work as well as the rational and economic implementation of renovation and modification work.

“There are so many benefits to gain when it comes to installing the Solar Heater in your home,” says inventor Daniel B. “This allows people to always have heated water during any time of the day without having to add up to their electric bills.”

Felicia Gregory, a working Mom from Maryland, has this to say about the Solar Heater: “As a single Mom, I would need to shoulder all the monthly costs at home and basically for everything else. For this reason, I try to find ways to say on money for a rainy day without having to sacrifice some creature comforts such as hot water for me and my child. Thanks to the Solar Heater, I can have hot showers all the time without adding to my monthly electric costs.”

The Solar Heater is designed to provide hot water without having to increase one’s monthly utility costs.

Coast Citrus Completes 622 Kilowatt Roof-Top Solar Array on San Diego Headquarters

SAN DIEGO, May 31, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Coast Citrus Distributors, a wholesaler of fruits and vegetables in the United States and Mexico since 1950, is proud to announce the completion and operation of a 622 kilowatt roof-mount solar energy system on its headquarters in San Diego. Borrego Solar Systems Inc. developed, designed and built Coast Citrus’ system. The system will generate approximately 1.1 million kilowatt-hours of energy in its first year, which will provide enough power to meet about 40 percent of the facility’s current energy needs, resulting in an estimated 30 percent reduction in energy costs.

“We took a hard look at our energy expenditure and the utility rates we were paying, which are expected to continue rising, and realized that by investing in solar we would be able to save money and mitigate risk over the long-term,” said Coast Citrus Chief Financial Officer Isabel Freeland. “Going solar fits with a few core values we have here at Coast Citrus, which are to provide value to our customers and to continue improving our operations. Solar enables us to cut our energy costs and shrink our carbon footprint, making us a more efficient organization in more ways than one.”

Coast Citrus received incentive funds from the California Solar Initiative and financed the remaining amount with a seven year operational lease with Farmers and Merchant Bank. The lease enabled the company to go solar without paying any upfront costs and realize cost savings as soon as the system began operating.

“Coast Citrus is a perfect candidate for incorporating on-site solar generation into its energy management strategy,” said Kyle Kearney, VP of project development—Western region for Borrego Solar. “From ripening rooms that need to be kept at set temperatures to freezers, refrigerators and packing machinery, the company relies on a vast array of energy intensive equipment that needs to be running constantly. By deploying solar, Coast Citrus is able to reduce the amount of energy it needs to buy from the utility and minimizes its exposure to increasing energy costs while it continues to expand operations.”

Throughout the term of the lease, the system is expected to generate enough emissions-free, clean energy to offset more than 2,200 tons of carbon dioxide—the equivalent of offsetting emissions from 4.2 million miles driven or the amount sequestered by more than 1,460 acres of U.S. forests.
