Solesca launches new ‘Engineering Mode’ workflow platform

Chicago-based solar software company Solesca has launched Engineering Mode, a new workflow program for commercial and ground-mount solar teams.

The new software allows teams to take a project from preliminary design to full system integration in mere minutes, company representatives say. Officials add that any rooftop, canopy, or ground-mounted solar project can now be both estimated and engineered within a single work session, without ever leaving Solesca’s platform.

“The handoff from sales to engineering has been the biggest bottleneck in solar development,” says Tom Yao, Solesca’s chief product officer. “Engineering Mode closes that gap. What surprised us most is how quickly sales teams adopted it. Having an accurate BOM at the bidding stage changes how they price, how confidently they commit, and how many deals they can close.”

The new software program comes as an improvement to Solesca’s existing pre-CAD options, with an eye specifically toward the commercial and industrial side of the installation space. Solesca says the company has helped installers and designers evaluate more than 150 GW of projects with “unmatched accuracy and speed.”

With the new program, Solesca says that work that previously required CAD experience is now done completely within the program. Additionally, work that used to cost around $3,000 can be delivered with a full bill of materials, a PE-stampable single-line diagram, site plan, and DXF exports, all within Solesca technology.

Engineering Mode is available now, Solesca says, and supports fully stamp-ready systems up to a generation capacity of about 15 MW. Teams who book a demo with the new software will also receive three free engineering and plan set vouchers, the company says.
