Linxon, Hitachi, and FTC partner for utility-scale acceleration

Utility-scale solar giant Hitachi has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with solar EPC firm Linxon and tracker system manufacturer FTC Solar to pursue market acceleration for utility-scale solar and battery storage.

The MOU aims to establish a “strategic collaboration framework” for the companies as they work to pursue projects across North America and beyond. The collaboration will bring together a group of three industry leaders, Linxon representatives say, to help address a defining challenge of the modern energy era: infrastructure scaling.

“The energy transition is no longer constrained by demand. It is increasingly constrained by execution capacity, supply chain availability, and the industry’s ability to scale,” says Stefan Reisacher, CEO of Linxon. “This collaboration represents a significant step forward in addressing those challenges.

“By bringing together Linxon’s EPC expertise, Hitachi Energy’s industry-leading grid and power technologies, and FTC Solar’s innovative and highly constructible solar infrastructure solutions, we are creating a powerful ecosystem that enables customers to move faster, reduce risk, and execute large-scale renewable energy projects with greater certainty and predictability.”

Reisacher adds the three firms hope to build a consistent delivery platform through this partnership. The end goal being, design the next generation of energy infrastructure.

Under the terms of the partnership, Linxon will serve as the primary EPC integrator, as well as the de facto “face” of the partnership, interacting with companies around the utility-scale market. FTC Solar will provide tracking, racking, and other balance of systems solutions for the projects, and Hitachi will contribute the utility-scale inverters and power conversion systems needed for solar and battery projects of this scale.

“The electricity era requires infrastructure that can expand faster, operate more intelligently and remain resilient as demand grows,” says Massimo Danieli, EVP of grid automation at Hitachi Energy. “Through this agreement, we can better align technology innovation, manufacturing capability, grid integration expertise and project execution to help customers accelerate renewable energy deployment while supporting the reliable, secure and sustainable power systems that society depends on.”

Linxon officials say that electricity and access to it are becoming “the foundation of the next era of growth.” Thanks to AI data center buildout, utility electrification, and a number of other factors straining the North American energy grid, the ability to connect new projects to the grid as safely and quickly as possible has become a top priority.

The new collaboration focuses on addressing challenges facing modern energy infrastructure buildout, the company says. Aligning technology, manufacturing, and EPC execution capabilities, the three companies say that consistent progress in the energy sector must rely on partnerships like these.

“Maximizing the efficiency and long-term value of utility-scale renewable projects requires more than best-in-class technologies—it requires like-minded partners leveraging and integrating those solutions in ways that enhance scalability, constructability, and long-term performance,” says Anthony Carroll, CEO of FTC.

“This collaboration creates a compelling value proposition for developers, utilities, and investors seeking predictable project outcomes and accelerated deployment.”
