Monarch, Sunraycer complete duo of projects in Texas

Monarch Sunraycer Texas projects

Solar project development company Sunraycer and Monarch Private Capital have completed the Midpoint and Gaia solar and storage projects in Texas, the Atlanta-based investment firm announced Aug. 27.

Both located on the southern outskirts of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the two projects total about 311 MWdc of solar energy, Monarch representatives say. Additionally, the Midpoint and Gaia projects come with a 50MW / 100 MWh battery system, and a 75 MW / 150 MWh battery system respectively.

“Midpoint and Gaia are strategic additions to Sunraycer’s operating portfolio and reflect the strong execution and partnership required to bring large-scale energy projects online,” says Sunraycer CEO David Lillefloren. “Monarch’s tax equity expertise and engagement have been instrumental in bringing these projects to full-scale operation, and we’re proud of what our teams have accomplished together.

“Together, these projects are now delivering more than 310 MWdc of solar generation and 250 MWh of battery storage to the Texas grid, providing reliable, flexible capacity at a time when power demand is accelerating across the state.”

The companies say that together, the two projects will add much-needed capacity to the ERCOT grid sectors of both Hill and Navarro Counties.

Monarch and Sunraycer initially put the two projects into service in 2025, accord to officials, reaching stabilized full-scale operations during the first half of 2026. Now complete, the companies estimate the two facilities will produce a combined 585 GWh of solar power every year — enough to power about 54,000 homes.

Staying involved in the Lone Star State

Monarch says its involvement with the two new projects is far from over. Rather than cutting off ties after the projects’ financial close, the firm aims to “remain actively engaged” throughout the collective lifespan of both facilities.

“The completion of Midpoint and Gaia represents another important milestone in Monarch’s mission to finance energy infrastructure that delivers both attractive investor returns and meaningful long-term impact,” says Bryan Didier, partner and managing director of energy at Monarch Private Capital. “Our partnership with Sunraycer demonstrates what’s possible when sophisticated developers marry with disciplined tax equity investors to bring complex utility-scale long-term energy solutions online.”

The company says it will assist with comprehensive asset management on the projects, as well as compliance oversight and ongoing project monitoring. The investment firm aims to keep working alongside all its project developers to “maximize long-term project performance and support successful outcomes throughout the investment lifecycle.”

Both the Midpoint and Gaia solar projects sport fully operational battery storage components that also interconnect with other sources, officials say. As Texas continues to electrify its manufacturing, and as data centers continue to expand, the two new sites are expected to greatly boost grid resiliency efforts across the state.
