UbiQD expands New Mexico headquarters with new Los Alamos building

UbiQD new headquarters building in Los Alamos, New Mexico

Quantum dot technology manufacturer UbiQD has acquired a new building for its New Mexican headquarters, supporting its ongoing manufacturing expansion.

Located adjacent to the firm’s two existing headquarters buildings in Los Alamos, New Mexico, the new building will create space for future equipment and manufacturing operations. The company adds that the building will strengthen its long-term mission of growing the city’s technology sector and adding lucrative, high-tech jobs for the northern New Mexico region.

“We are grateful to the Los Alamos County Council for their steadfast and unanimous support for our continued investment in our headquarters campus, now totaling three buildings on Eastgate Road,” says UbiQD founder and CEO Hunter McDaniel. “UbiQD is at the intersection of various technology waves, including semiconductors, electricity production, agriculture technology, advanced materials, and quantum, and we’re helping continue our community’s legacy of world changing innovation.”

Los Alamos County also pitched in on the expansion endeavor, according to UbiQD officials. The quantum dot manufacturer says the county provided a low-interest loan to assist in the purchase, through the use of the Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) program. The same program assisted with UbiQD’s purchase of its first headquarters building in 2017.

In order to secure that loan, UbiQD has pledged to create at least ten new jobs at its facility by the end of 2028, representatives say. Additionally, the company will continue its community outreach efforts throughout the county.

Building for the next generation

UbiQD closed its Series B financing in 2025, the company says, and has heavily invested in expanding its manufacturing capacity since the closure. Since 2024, the company has increased production capacity of its quantum dot products by “approximately twelve-fold,” officials say, making it the largest quantum dot manufacturer in the U.S. as of June 2026.

At 5,000 square feet of additional high bay space, the new building includes the required facilities for both manufacturing and R&D. With the site previously serving the Los Alamos National Laboratory and its regional customers, UbiQD’s top brass says the facility’s ownership transition “represents the continuation of advanced manufacturing and technology employment at the site.”

The company’s latest investment in the Los Alamos area bolsters UbiQD’s commitment to northern New Mexico, where it intends to stay long-term. The company’s quantum dot products are pushing the solar industry forward, with quantum dot sensitized solar cells carry potential for much higher energy efficiency levels when compared to conventional cell designs.

“As we continue expanding our commercial footprint, we’re proud to be creating advanced manufacturing jobs and economic opportunity here in New Mexico while bringing innovative technologies developed in Los Alamos to customers around the world,” McDaniel adds.
