Nexamp, Pivot Energy secure domestic module supply from Silfab Solar
North American solar module manufacturer Silfab Solar signed supply agreements with two notable community solar players in Nexamp and Pivot Energy. Both Nexamp and Pivot will receive Silfab Solar’s latest commercial panel—the 580 XM+.
“Silfab is positioned to be a leader in the U.S. manufacturing of solar cells and modules,” said Richard Gilker, SVP of Technical Operations at Pivot Energy. “The modules we are purchasing from Silfab will enable us to attain the domestic content for the projects that will use those modules.”
Pivot Energy agreed to procure 350 MW of Silfab commercial PV modules “with a high concentration of domestic content,” over a two-year period starting in Q2 this year.
Nexamp’s deal is planned to start late Q2 2025. Shipment of the first 125 MW in will be of solar panels exclusively manufactured at that S.C. facility – including the cells.
“Nexamp has been working diligently over the past few years to secure a reliable domestic supply of high-quality modules and materials as we build out additional generating capacity that will create new jobs, enhance our energy independence, meet rising energy demands, and help Americans save money on their energy bills,” noted Nexamp CEO Zaid Ashai. Nexamp is one of the nation’s largest community solar developers, and Nexamp executives recently toured Silfab’s newest assembly plant.
These multi-year partnerships are helpful as Silfab prepares to operate its U.S. production facility in South Carolina, which will initially produce at least 1 GW of solar cells and 1.3 GW of modules.
Silfab recently closed on $100 million of new financing to scale that South Carolina solar cell manufacturing plant. Silfab also operates a large West Coast module production facility with multiple active manufacturing lines in Washington.
“We are looking forward to getting the first of these modules in the agreement installed on many of the projects we have in our construction pipeline.”
