Project of the Year POY solar

Solar Builder is now accepting nominations for the 2024 Project of the Year awards. The deadline for submission is Sept. 6. The 2024 Project of the Year Awards are sponsored by Aurora Solar. Boost your sales and master solar + storage solutions with Aurora’s essential Storage Pocket Guide!

Eligible projects must be located in North America and include the categories of Residential, C&I, Utility-scale, Community Solar and Microgrid projects completed between Oct. 1, 2023, and Sept. 6, 2024, with permission to operate granted no later than Dec. 31, 2024.

Solar Builder editors will select the finalists for readers to vote upon in the month of September. Top vote getters will be featured in the Q4 print issue and in exclusive online features. Several Editor’s Choice awards will also be selected.

Solar Builder seeks to highlight the most outstanding PV projects in the solar industry each year. Was the design and installation innovative? Did it overcome a challenge in a novel way? Did it help a community? Any inventive, interesting, or impactful PV project — big or small — is eligible. We just need you to tell us about them.

Need inspiration? Check out last year’s winners:

  • The Residential project winner was the Seneca Nation in New York, which received a grant to use toward renewable energy projects and contracted with GreenSpark Solar to install PV systems up to 10 kW in size for eligible members at a serious discount.
  • Veregy installed 845 kW in total across the Metropolitan School District (MSD) of Wayne Township in Indianapolis, Ind. — 530 kW on ground-mounts and carports; 315 kW on rooftops — earning the award for C&I Ground-mount / Carports.
  • Winning the award for Utility-scale was the Arrow Canyon project, a 200 MW solar array and 375 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Moapa, Nevada, within the Mojave Desert.
  • The Microgrid winner was the Grand Canyon West project, which featured 884.5 kW of fixed-tilt ground-mounted solar + 770 kW / 2.14 MWh BESS to serve the Hualapai Tribe and provides electricity for Grand Canyon West operations.
  • Located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, Badia Spices Warehouse won the C&I Rooftop award, having been engineered and installed by SALT Energy.
  • St. Albans Air Force Station in Vermont was awarded the award Community Solar, as the project presented a host of logistical and contaminated property challenges overcome by Green Lantern Solar.
