Stäubli debuts dual-rated branch connector for 1,500V PV systems

Stäubli branch connector

A new branch connector from Stäubli for 1,500 Vdc PV systems (part of MC4-Evo 2 product series) can serve both UL and IEC markets. Within the eBOS cabling solutions for PV systems its end use will enable combinations of two strings in parallel.

The Stäubli MC4-Evo 2 branch connector also fits 1,000 Vdc and 1,500 Vdc applications. With its Original MC4 mating face, this branch connector is intermateable with Stäubli’s Original MC4 and MC4-Evo 2 PV connectors and cable couplers.

The compact design fits in narrow cable raceways and its lightweight puts less strain on cables and mounting clips. With its ammonia resistance, IP68 conformity, and passed salt spray tests it is an extremely robust product ensuring reliable and long-lasting operation even in harsh application environments.

Stäubli notes that no crimping and torqueing are necessary during installation. Fixation points for cable ties also ease installation.

We have a ton video interviews and additional content on our YouTube page. Recently we debuted Power Forward! -- a collaboration with BayWa r.e. to discuss higher level industry topics as well as best practices / trends for running a solar business today.

Our longer running side project is The Pitch -- in which we have awkward discussions with solar manufacturers and suppliers about their new technology and ideas so that you don't have to. We discuss everything from residential rail-less deck attaching and home solar financing to large-scale energy storage value stacking and utility-driven new home solar + storage microgrids.
