FranklinWH, EnergyHub partner for two VPP programs in Arizona

Homeowners across Arizona have new ways to keep the lights on during power outages thanks to a new working agreement between FranklinWH and EnergyHub, covering two solar battery virtual power plant (VPP) initiatives in the Grand Canyon State.
FranklinWH will support EnergyHub in the Salt River Project (SRP) Battery Partner Program, as well as the Arizona Public Service (APS) Storage Reward Pilot, officials say. Representatives added that Arizonans with a FranklinWH solar system attached to their home can also receive financial incentives from local utility companies, as the battery programs can help turn their power into grid assets.
The programs allow residents to earn money by discharging their solar battery during peak hours to help the local grid, with incentives up to $110/kW per year. The company’s whole home solution is scalable up to 225 kWh per aGate product, which can cover most homes and even smaller commercial facilities, officials say.
“When outages happen in Arizona, especially during the summer, the impact can be immediate and serious,” says Justin Hopkins, senior director of strategic accounts at FranklinWH. “These programs give homeowners a way to stay powered, reduce their bills, and support grid reliability at the same time.”
As electrical demand continues to spike around the U.S. thanks in part to the rise of AI data centers, utilities are turning to VPP programs like these. Arizona marks the ninth partnership state for FranklinWH, joining California, North Carolina, Oregon, Vermont, Connecticut and multiple other states throughout the New England region through the ConnectedSolutions umbrella.
EnergyHub is a well-known player in the energy-sharing space, inking a VPP participation deal with Elon Musk-led EV giant Tesla in October 2025. The company also operates the ConnectedSolutions platform that supports FranklinWH systems in New England.
Arizona homeowners without a FranklinWH system can also participate in VPP programs through solar system leasing, which is available through Palmetto’s LightReach program.
