DeltaX chooses Georgia for North American BESS headquarters
South Korean battery system manufacturer DeltaX has announced its decision to establish a North American headquarters in Walton County, Georgia, on the eastern outskirts of Atlanta.
The site represents a $141 million investment in the county, according to the Georgia Economic Development. Additionally, the new facility is expected to create approximately 250 jobs throughout the eastern Atlanta region.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp says the move is a sure sign that the Peach State’s energy sector economy is moving in the right direction, as battery storage continues to take a larger chunk of the energy industry.
“The decision by DeltaX to locate its headquarters here and further grow Georgia’s energy sector is another testament to our position at the forefront of innovation and emerging technology,” he says. “Projects like this are possible because of our cutting-edge research universities, world-class workforce training, and reliable energy infrastructure, and I look forward to the opportunities it will bring to the people of Walton County.”
Making the battery leap
The establishment of DeltaX in North America aims to aid the country in its energy transition through the help of advanced battery systems.
The company currently manufactures a number of intelligent battery products, including management systems and AI-powered energy technologies. Officials say the Seoul-based firm provides systems for a wide variety of energy applications, including commercial and industrial markets, OEM customers, and AI data center electrification.
Stephen Kim, the founder and CEO of DeltaX, says Georgia “has established itself as one of the world’s premier locations for advanced energy manufacturing.” This, he adds, makes the southern state an ideal site for the company’s expansion into North America.
“This investment represents a major milestone in DeltaX’s global growth strategy,” Kim continues. “Our Georgia facility will serve as the manufacturing hub for North America, enabling us to provide world-class Battery Energy Storage Systems more efficiently while creating high-quality jobs and supporting America’s rapidly growing demand for reliable and sustainable energy infrastructure.”
The first phase of the facility will include a 100,000 square foot site for battery assembly, closely followed by additional manufacturing facilities for “key component production.” The company also plans to add a separate North American corporate office, which will be tasked with the creation of an integrated manufacturing campus.
“The establishment of our Georgia manufacturing facility marks the beginning of DeltaX’s long-term commitment to North America,” says James C. Park, VP of North America operations for DeltaX. “Georgia’s exceptional business climate, skilled workforce, strategic logistics network, and collaborative leadership made this decision an easy one.”
