Yaskawa-Solectria debuts commercial Rapid Shutdown Combiner for three-phase string inverters

Yaskawa – Solectria Solar, just introduced its Commercial Rapid Shutdown Combiner for three-phase string inverters. This Commercial Rapid Shutdown Combiner offers a complete solution to NEC 2014 & 2017, Article 690.12, requiring commercial rooftop PV installations to de-energize DC conductors outside the PV array boundary.

Yaskawa Solectria Solar combiner rapid shutdownThe Commercial Rapid Shutdown Combiner’s design integrates seamlessly with Yaskawa – Solectria Solar’s PVI 14-60 TL three-phase, transformerless inverters. It allows operation of 1 or 2 MPPT zone configurations with up to 5 strings per MPPT zone.

If the Rapid Shutdown Combiner is enabled, the array automatically shuts down the system upon loss of AC power to the site, without an additional power supply, disconnect or activation switch. Together, Yaskawa – Solectria Solar’s PVI 14-60TL three-phase, transformerless inverters and Commercial Rapid Shutdown Combiner provide a fully-integrated solution and the simplest way to achieve compliance with NEC 2014 & 2017, Article 690.12.

We have a ton video interviews and additional content on our YouTube page. Recently we debuted Power Forward! -- a collaboration with BayWa r.e. to discuss higher level industry topics as well as best practices / trends for running a solar business today.

Our longer running side project is The Pitch -- in which we have awkward discussions with solar manufacturers and suppliers about their new technology and ideas so that you don't have to. We've discusses everything from residential rail-less deck attaching and home solar financing to large-scale energy storage value stacking and utility-driven new home solar + storage microgrids.

We also post our Project of the Year announcements there! Interviews with this year's winners will be up starting the week of Nov. 8. Head there and subscribe today to stay on top of all this extra stuff.
