Meridian Solar Installs 260-kW Rooftop System for LegalZoom in Texas

LegalZoom Inc., a provider of online legal help for businesses and families, has partnered with Meridian Solar Inc. to engineer and construct a 260-kW solar electric system at LegalZoom’s Spectrum Drive office in Austin, Texas. LegalZoom’s investment in solar will advance its commitment to corporate sustainability and ultimately reduce operating expenses.

legalzoomThe 260-kW solar electric system, comprised of 864 photovoltaic modules, will produce an estimated 345,800 kWh in year one – that translates to first year savings of $22,000.00. The environmental impact amounts to an annual reduction of 450,000 pounds, or 224 tons, of carbon dioxide emissions – an environmental benefit equivalent to planting 8,000 carbon-sequestering trees in Texas’ parks.

”LegalZoom is committed to clean, renewable energy,” said Mike Wilson, VP of Operations. “Going solar is a winning solution all around – great for the environment, great for the community, and great for the business – and the expert team at Meridian Solar helped make deployment of our Austin office solar infrastructure a seamless process.”

Meridian Solar was responsible for the development, engineering, procurement and construction of the 260-kW roof-mounted system. Meridian Solar’s Executive Vice President, Mark Begert, commented, “Working with LegalZoom has been a pleasure for Meridian Solar. LegalZoom had the foresight and seized the opportunity to reduce operating costs with a solar energy solution. LegalZoom understands that clean, sustainable solar energy is both financially astute and environmentally responsible.”
