Everest Solar Systems opened its doors in the U.S. in 2012, and just a few short years later opened a second office in Mexico. Now in 2021, they are changing their name to K2 Systems. Why? Well, Everest has always been a part of K2 Systems, a solar racking manufacturer that began in Germany in 2004. Over the years, K2 expanded to different countries and when they decided to open in the U.S., they could not keep the same name due to trademark issues. For that reason, the company chose to stick with the mountain theme and name the American and Mexican branches, Everest Solar Systems.

Fast forward to present day, there is no longer a trademark issue in the U.S. and Mexico, so the company can finally be a single brand worldwide. The U.S. has already acquired the trademark and has officially changed its name already, Mexico is soon to follow, but it still in processing.
What does this rebranding mean for you? The product development process will remain the same. K2 branches work independently to identify the product needs of each specific market. Product names and part numbers will remain the same. New products will roll out as usual, and you’ll still have your regular sales representative. This is a name change not a buy-out.
