BlueRock Solar partners with Renovus Solar on New York community solar project

renovus solarBlueRock Solar, a subsidiary of BlueRock Energy, announced a joint venture with Ithaca-based Renovus Solar on a new community solar project in Millport, N.Y. BlueRock and Renovus will be installing 2,054 solar panels across three and a half acres to bring affordable, clean energy options to NYSEG delivery customers in the Southern Tier and Central New York.

The project is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2017 and will produce enough energy to power approximately 80 residential units per year. Membership in the project will work in a “pay as you go” model whereby qualifying subscribers can sign up for a one-year contract with no credit check required. Contracts will be priced to save customers 10% on their utility bills. Interested customers can head to  to learn more.

The environmental benefits of this project are sizable. The renewable energy created from this project will offset CO2 annual emissions from 63,400 gallons of gasoline consumed or 602,000 pounds of coal burned. This also equates to CO2 emissions from 60 homes’ energy use for one year.
