Eaton’s New Solar Breaker Recombiner

Eaton energy storageEaton has launched 1000vDC solar breaker recombiners tested and certified to meet UL 1741 standards. For enhanced application flexibility and equipment reliability, Power Xpert Solar DC breaker recombiners can be customized with Eaton’s broad range of PVGard solar circuit breakers. Designed to provide reliable performance for high-voltage PV installations, the flexible design can be configured for grounded, ungrounded or bi-polar systems. The solution also supports all inverter designs with current inputs up to 600A and outputs up to 4000A. Outputs can be selected in three configurations: single lineup output (pull section), output per structure or individualized outputs per breaker input. Eaton’s PVGard circuit breakers are UL 489B listed, with 100 percent and 80 percent rated breakers for design flexibility and cost saving opportunities. By providing a single device for combined disconnect and overcurrent protection, the solutions also meet NEC requirements.

Enphase’s Envoy-S Gateway, management system

Enphase EnergyThe new Enphase Envoy-S gateway provides the foundation and intelligence of the Enphase Energy Management System. Envoy-S features bi-directional communications to maintain and manage the Enphase System, while allowing solar production and energy consumption to speak to each other for the first time. Sending all energy data — both production and consumption — automatically to the Enlighten monitoring platform, Envoy-S serves as the unified hub to deliver power generation and energy usage insights, revenue-grade metering, remote maintenance capabilities and long-term system management. With cellular connectivity, ethernet or integrated Wi-Fi, Envoy-S offers flexible networking options and reliable monitoring for simpler installations and lower operations and maintenance (O&M) costs. The rugged construction of Envoy-S also means it can be installed anywhere, even in an outdoor enclosure for maximum flexibility and easily accessible O&M.

New Exotrack HZ v2 from Exosun

Exosun trackerExosun launches a new version of its single-axis solar tracker, Exotrack HZ v2, engineered to deliver the lowest levelized cost of electricity to its customers. Exotrack HZ boosts utility-scale plant output up to 25 percent compared to fixed-tilt installations. Thanks to its short rows, Exotrack HZ v2 smoothly follows undulated topography, drastically decreasing land grading works. Optimized DC wire management reduces wiring costs by 50 percent compared to other single-axis trackers. The system’s intelligent design significantly minimizes installation costs and time. Its linked-row architecture and grease-free, balanced structure make it an extremely reliable solar tracking system, reducing O&M actions to a minimum for 25 years. Its centralized control system can pilot up to 10 MWp of trackers and allows on-site or remote actions on the trackers thereby considerably reducing frequency of site visits. Highly flexible and adaptable, Exotrack HZ is a genuine revenue booster for utility-scale solar plant owners and developers. www.exosun.net.

MidNite Solar’s rapid system shutdown solution

midnite solar birdhouse rapid shutdownThe MidNite Rapid Shutdown System is a firefighter/home owner’s control system designed specifically for disconnecting rooftop PV panels. In case of emergencies or system maintenance, the press of a red button will trigger the rapid shutdown, activating all remote trip devices in the system. This process disconnects hazardous voltages from the PV array and the rest of the system. The central component of the system, the Birdhouse, works in conjunction with MidNite Solar’s disconnecting combiners, remote trip circuit breakers, cat5 cable, high-voltage shut off boxes, battery disconnect modules and power supply board. It’s designed to be mounted within 500 meters of the combiner and located in an accessible location for first responders. The Birdhouse LEDs display the system status and automated speech gives further situation specific information. The Birdhouse has an attractive weather-resistant enclosure made of anodized aluminum and high-density plastic. www.midnitesolar.com.
