Roofit.Solar marks U.S. expansion with first BIPV solar roof installation in Michigan

A European-based solar roof pioneer has completed its first project in the United States. Roofit.Solar, headquartered in Estonia, completed a 12.32 kW rooftop solar installation at a private residence in Kalamazoo, Michigan, as the company onsolidates its expansion into the North American market.
The cleantech company has signed an official partnership agreement with U.S.-based solar installer ArcEdge, which is led the project in Michigan.
“The transition to renewable energy solutions for homes and commercial properties is not just a market trend, but a vital component of achieving national energy independence, enhancing energy security, and fostering a resilient, sustainable future,” says Greg Grace, Roofit.Solar’s chief growth officer. “We’re seeing overwhelming engagement from American property owners who seek to integrate clean, distributed power without sacrificing architectural integrity. Expanding our presence in the US is a commitment to empowering these stakeholders in their journey toward self-sufficiency and a net-zero future.”
Roofit.Solar specializes in building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solar roofing, a 2-in-1 product created with a discreet, minimalistic and sleek appearance. The aesthetics-first design makes the solar roofs ideal for landmark buildings, architecturally sensitive neighborhoods and design-conscious homeowners.
U.S. expansion includes UL certification
After completing more than 3,000 installations across 30 countries, predominantly in Europe, Roofit.Solar has now brought its solution to the United States having achieved UL certification for its Velario module. The vigorous UL testing process saw the product assessed in aspects like fire resistance, electrical safety and weather resistance, all of which the Velario passed.
The Velario uses classic standing seam metal roofing sheets with high-efficiency monocrystalline solar cells built in, achieving a streamlined and elegant appearance whilst effectively producing clean energy for the building to use.
Roofit.Solar’s inaugural installation project in the United States saw 12.32 kWp of solar power installed at a private residence in Kalamazoo, Michigan ,in the form of Velario solar roofing during late 2025. The site is a new build, using solar PV to power its energy consumption.
“Before partnering with Roofit.Solar, we had identified a gap in the U.S. solar market for integrated solutions, which look stylish enough to suit even the most high-end of our projects,” says Russ Newton, president of ArcEdge.
