SunPower Panels Featured on ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover
SunPower Corp., a Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of high-efficiency solar cells, solar panels and solar systems, announced that its high-efficiency solar panels were installed on the Jusst Sooup Ranch that will be featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition two-hour special on Friday, Nov. 18. The 25-kW solar system is expected to generate a substantial portion of the electricity needed to power the soup kitchen that is operated by Rev. Dale Dunning and her family, of Lewes, Del.
The new solar system features the aesthetically pleasing all-black SunPower E18 / 225 Solar Panel with its Maxeon all-back contact solar cells, the most efficient on the market today. The soup kitchen is one of four buildings constructed by a team of volunteers led by Schell Brothers, headquartered in Rehoboth Beach, Del., for the Dunning family. The solar system was installed by Clean Energy, a SunPower Premier Dealer and many of its employees volunteered their time to install the rooftop solar system.
“We are pleased to contribute our high-efficiency, most reliable solar panels for use on this unique facility,” said Tom Werner, SunPower president and CEO. “We applaud the work being done by the Dunning family and hope that the expected savings on their electricity bill will help to feed more people in need.”
The Emmy Award winning reality program, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” now in its ninth season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. The show airs on Friday at 8 p.m. EST on the ABC network.
