German Racking Supplier K2 Systems Enters U.S. Market
K2 Systems, a mounting systems manufacturer in Europe, has announced the opening of its U.S. division, Everest Solar Systems LLC, in Oceanside, Calif. The move is based on the company’s overall confidence in the growth of both the commercial and residential solar markets and the innovative new racking technology it is introducing that will drive down the cost of solar energy, helping to facilitate that growth. The expansion is also expected to create a significant number of jobs in California and nationwide.
The company is active in all major market segments — residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar — with a track record of more than 2.5 GW of successful installations in all major European markets.
Katharina David, K2 Systems Group CEO, stated, “We are very excited to pursue our long-term strategy of growing internationally and diversifying into new markets. We see very large potential in the U.S. market and are investing aggressively to position us in this very important market.”
Everest Solar Systems opened its new headquarters in Oceanside, Calif., in August and is introducing four products for the residential and commercial markets at the upcoming Solar Power International 2012.
Boris Mathiszik, Everest Solar Systems CEO, commented, “It is clearly a sign of our confidence in the projected growth of the U.S. market that we are making this major investment. Our innovative mounting solutions dramatically reduce component count and simplify system installation enabling system integrators to drive down the cost of solar energy. This reduction in cost is exactly what the U.S. solar industry needs at this critical juncture. We are extremely excited to contribute to great new career opportunities for people passionate about manufacturing, engineering, sales, marketing and service jobs in the sustainable energy sector in San Diego and throughout the U.S.”
The company is occupying a 24,000-sq-ft facility in the Ocean Ranch business park in Oceanside and will start shipping from the new facility this month.
