SINEXCEL and Molecule Systems deliver commercial-scale VPP integration
Commercial-scale virtual power plants (VPPs) are complex, but a potentially lucrative opportunity. SINEXCEL and Molecule Systems are partnering on an integrated energy management system (EMS) and virtual power plant (VPP) platform for commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage projects across North America.
SINEXCEL is a manufacturer of modular energy storage, EV charging and power quality equipment. Molecule Systems provides an end-to-end platform for VPP enablement, and it also has an EMS. The company streamlines distributed energy resource (DER) market access, automates energy operations, and optimizes performance with advanced cloud and edge technologies.
“The Molecule-SINEXCEL solution gives developers and integrators an edge by combining proven hardware with intelligent software and VPP market access,” said Adam Boucher, CEO of Molecule Systems. “This partnership ensures that every project delivers higher economic value while simplifying project deployment and long-term operations.”
The joint solution is available now, providing a complete package for commercial energy users, utilities, and aggregators seeking to optimize distributed energy resources.
Molecule Systems + SINEXCEL
This collaboration pairs Molecule’s MosFusion EMS with SINEXCEL’s commercial battery energy storage inverters. Project developers and system integrators can order a plug-and-play solution for energy management, site control, and grid services participation.
The integrated platform is designed to accelerate deployment timelines, optimize behind-the-meter operations, and unlock participation in front-of-the-meter programs such as demand response, resource adequacy, and dynamic pricing.
In addition to the energy storage system, the Molecule partnership can include the orchestration of HVAC, EV chargers, and other DERs through their secure edge-based software architecture. This enables project developers to offer comprehensive site-level optimization for peak shaving, resiliency, and flexible load management, while expanding revenue streams through VPP participation.
“By integrating Molecule Systems’ advanced energy management system (EMS) and virtual power plant (VPP) capabilities with our hardware platform, we’re giving our partners a competitive advantage—delivering turnkey systems that combine best-in-class hardware with real-time energy optimization and grid services access,” said Henry Cheung, General Manager of SINEXCEL’s Energy Storage & Microgrid Business Unit. “This partnership simplifies projects, reduces project risk, and maximizes ROI.”
Molecule Systems explained
Dispatches is a webinar series from Mayfield Renewables and Outfit. Each episode explores the real-world application of emerging technologies and the projects they impact. On “Demystifying Commercial-Scale Virtual Power Plants” Adam Boucher, CEO of Molecule Systems, and Rachel Permut, Chief Business Development Officer at Enersponse, explained how to integrate commercial-scale distributed energy resources (DERs) into virtual power plant (VPP) programs, and how commercial DERs can unlock new revenue streams and energy cost savings through VPPs.
SINEXCEL BESS and Bidirectional Inverters
For SINEXCEL’s system integrators, the partnership eliminates the need to source or develop an EMS solution or require project developers to integrate with third-party EMS providers. With direct access to Molecule’s scalable EMS and VPP platform, integrators can ensure their product offerings deliver more valuable, reliable, and differentiated energy storage solutions at scale.
SINEXCEL’s Solar-Storage-Charging Solution is designed to maximize energy efficiency by 4%, directly converting both battery electricity and solar power into the current needed for charging. The system’s capacity is scalable, allowing for the addition of ultra-fast charging infrastructure, solar storage, and vehicle-grid interaction capabilities. At the core of this solution lies the Tianji Architecture, a distributed modular DC bus with a standardized platform.
SES-90K Pre-engineered All-in-one Outdoor BESS Cabinet
The SES-90K is a modular, pre-engineered battery energy storage solution ranging from 30kW to 90kW. The S90 features featuring 3-9 MPPTs, and its 30ms automatic backup switch ensures uninterrupted power supply during grid outages.
160 kW Modular Bi-directional Storage Inverter
SINEXCEL’s PWS1-160M-H-EX/NA inverter has an IP66 rating and offers a flexible 850–1500Vdc range, accommodating various battery types. Engineered for grid frequency regulation, the 160kW inverter can handle overloads up to 1.5 times for 10 seconds and responds flexibly to FFR, FCR, and FCAS services. Its compatibility with both air-cooled and liquid-cooled batteries ensures efficient heat dissipation. With a 1.6MW capacity from 10 units in parallel, it’s an ideal solution for both grid-connected and isolated energy systems.
