EcoFlow debuts OCEAN Pro ESS with flood-resistant design and AI power controls

EcoFlow has officially launched its most advanced residential energy storage system yet — the OCEAN Pro — as the company expands its footprint in the U.S. home battery market. With features designed to meet the demands of grid-challenged states like California, Texas, and Florida, EcoFlow is promoting OCEAN Pro as a true “multi-source backup system,” pulling energy from solar, batteries, or even gas generators depending on need.
The release marks EcoFlow’s biggest U.S. residential push to date. Already a household name in portable power and backup systems (and a European version that’s already over 17,000 installs), the company is positioning OCEAN Pro as a full-service solution for households looking to optimize rooftop solar production, manage rising electric bills, and prepare for outages.
New entry in the home battery arms race
OCEAN Pro enters a growing field of whole-home storage solutions, going up against systems like Tesla’s Powerwall 3. EcoFlow says its system delivers double the solar capacity and backup power compared to the average residential battery setup, and it includes 24 kW of continuous output — enough to power multiple 5-ton HVAC units, EV chargers, and pool pumps simultaneously.
Each unit provides 10 kWh of capacity and can be expanded up to 80 kWh to support larger energy loads. The battery automatically kicks in during an outage in less than 10 milliseconds.
“‘OCEAN Pro isn’t just backup power, it’s complete energy independence made simple,’” said Jenny Zhang, President of North America Residential Energy at EcoFlow.
Aesthetically, the battery comes in three finishes — aluminum, walnut wood, and carbon fiber — and includes a full-service experience with personalized consultations, real-time install tracking via app, and support from nearly 100 installation partners across the U.S.
Smart forecasting and VPP integration
Beyond capacity, the OCEAN Pro is also designed to optimize usage and integrate with virtual power plants (VPPs). Its AI-driven forecasting tools tap into weather, pricing, and consumption data to prioritize solar self-consumption and reduce peak-hour utility charges. Through EcoFlow’s app, users can monitor usage in real-time and control integrations with Apple Home, Google Nest, Alexa, and more.
Once fully charged, the system can also export energy back to the grid — and EcoFlow’s VPP network can automate discharge during peak pricing events to help users earn additional income. This feature is currently expanding to more U.S. markets.
Built for the real world
EcoFlow says OCEAN Pro also addresses an often-overlooked issue: weather durability. The system is IP67-rated, water-resistant up to 2.6 feet, and designed to operate in harsh conditions. It’s also the first in its class to meet UL 9540B safety standards.
“‘Their system is not only powerful and seamlessly integratable, but also designed for the real world,’” said Daniel Gawrych, CEO of Lunex Power, EcoFlow’s Florida installation partner.
Pre-Orders Begin: Pre-orders for OCEAN Pro opened July 15 on EcoFlow’s website and through authorized installation partners.
