WattBuy, a software firm known for personalized energy insights and electrification tools, has been acquired by Schneider Electric. The deal, announced August 2025, folds WattBuy into Schneider’s “prosumer” energy portfolio alongside subsidiaries EnergySage and Qmerit. CEO and co-founder Naman Trivedi will continue leading WattBuy operations.

Acquisition details

For Schneider Electric, the move is designed to simplify how U.S. homeowners navigate the energy transition — from selecting electricity plans to installing solar and EV chargers. WattBuy’s API-first platform already powers consumer energy recommendations for brands like Redfin, Veterans United Home Loans, and Opendoor, reaching more than 100 million households.

By pairing those personalization tools with EnergySage’s national solar and storage marketplace and Qmerit’s service contractor network, Schneider Electric is positioning itself to deliver an end-to-end experience for residential electrification.

“Electrification is the defining opportunity of the next decade — and it starts with empowering consumers,” said Jaser Faruq, SVP, Prosumer at Schneider Electric. “WattBuy’s personalization capabilities and intelligence engine are the perfect complement to EnergySage’s mission of transparency and choice.”

What WattBuy adds

WattBuy uses proprietary models to recommend electricity plans, rooftop solar, battery storage, and projected costs based on a homeowner’s address and usage profile. That intelligence becomes more valuable when paired with EnergySage’s comparison-shopping platform and Qmerit’s national service coverage.

Trivedi called the acquisition “a pivotal step,” adding that the combined approach makes it easier for homeowners to lower energy bills, cut emissions, and upgrade toward full electrification.
