Tigo Energy Achieves TÜV Certification for Smart Module Technology
Tigo Energy today announced it has received the industry’s first ever certification for embedding its Tigo Energy Junction Box in PV modules for North America and Europe from TÜV Rheinland Group.
This groundbreaking certification means that Tigo Energy technology is integrated seamlessly into solar panels and is available for purchase directly from leading module manufacturers. A smart module features all the benefits of panel-level electronics such as fire safety, module level monitoring & MPPT, highest power density and efficiency, with the exact form factor as a traditional module. Integration means no additional installation costs, and reduced shipping, labor and maintenance as all the components are seamlessly manufactured into the module. Performance and safety related certificates for Tigo Energy’s SmartModule junction box are tested and certified by the globally renowned certification institutions TÜV Rheinland Group and TÜV Rheinland North America.

Over the course of two years Tigo Energy coordinated a joint engineering effort with leading junction box and module manufacturers executing extensive product testing to ensure high reliability, safety and performance. As the first to go through the certification process, Tigo Energy actually helped develop the testing standards for Smart Modules.
