GreenLancer launches nationwide solar repair network to address orphaned systems

Company expands beyond design and permitting, offering diagnostics and recommissioning in all 50 states

Thousands of U.S. homeowners are living with underperforming solar arrays after their original installers closed shop. Many of those systems have been sitting idle for months, delivering no power and no return on investment. GreenLancer, a company best known for its online platform for solar design and permitting, is stepping into this gap with a new nationwide repair service.

The program, now available in all 50 states, is aimed at restoring stranded systems and protecting portfolios for lenders and contractors. Services include panel and inverter diagnostics, component replacements, recommissioning, and assistance with Permission to Operate (PTO) remediation.

“Far too many families have paid over $10,000 for solar, only to have their systems left incomplete when the installer closes,” said Pat McCabe, co-founder and president of GreenLancer. “That means no energy savings and a frustrating loss of trust. Our goal is to get those systems running as they should.”

Growing O&M demand

The solar repair market is expanding as early systems reach the age where maintenance is unavoidable. Without timely service, performance quickly erodes and customers lose confidence in the industry. GreenLancer’s centralized program is designed to simplify repair access for homeowners while giving contractors steady service work without the overhead of customer acquisition.

To scale the effort, the company is recruiting licensed electricians, PV contractors, and technicians into its operations and maintenance network. These partners receive consistent assignments, streamlined payment support, and nationwide coverage.

Support for lenders and financiers

GreenLancer is also working with seven solar financiers to finish incomplete installations and bring stalled projects online. This collaboration is meant to safeguard asset performance and reduce risk for lenders, while restoring value for homeowners.

Since its founding in 2013, GreenLancer has supported more than 200,000 solar projects through design, permitting, and engineering services. Its U.S.-based team is now extending that expertise to long-term operations and maintenance.
