Nature’s Generator MyGrid 10K supports home solar and wind power
Nature’s Generator is promoting a new system to tie together renewable energy systems for home use – the MyGrid 10K, which boasts connections for solar and wind power.
MyGrid 10K is a whole home power system. CEO, Lawrence Zhou says the system is plug and play, and can help homeowners avoid electric panel upgrades: “For the first time in history MyGrid 10K gives both homeowners and tenants the choice to build their own grid,” Zhou says. “Setup only takes minutes, while others’ setup can take days or even months.”
MyGrid 10K specs
MyGrid 10K can handle up to 12 kW of solar panels in addition to one wind turbine and can also be charged from 120V standard outlet or 208/240V outlet. The spec sheet shows a capacity of 10,496 Wh — 6,000 life-cycles — and an inverter sporting 10 kW continuous-power-output. The MyGrid 10K can be expanded up to 20 kW continuous-power-output and 140 kilowatt-hours capacity.
An Automatic Transfer Switch used with MyGrid 10K provides a path to connect to a home electrical panel. The system does not have a dump load circuit, but Zhou says MyGrid’s BMS (battery management system) prevents battery overcharging to serve the same purpose. When the battery is full, it will not accept the charge.
“MyGrid 10K does not backfeed to the grid, which makes the permit process much easier,” Zhou says. “In a certain way, it is like a standby generator, but it is powered by solar panel or wind turbine instead of fossil fuels.”
The inverter is ETL certified, and the company is working on the ETL certificate for the battery.
MyGrid 10K use cases
Once it is fully certified, Zhou sees the following use cases for MyGrid 10K
- Backup Power. Whether the customer has grid-tie solar system or not, MyGrid 10K will be the backup power source for the whole home during power outages.
- Off Grid power source. MyGrid becomes the Grid when no utility company is available. Solar panels and wind turbines charge the MyGrid 10K.
- Electricity bill savings. Any energy generated from solar panels or wind turbine is free to the users and offsets the electricity bill.
